Big Kid Corner: BIG KID BOOT CAMP 💪
This is exactly what it sounds like. Yep. Boot Camp for Big Kids. It's our second year doing this 𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 activity! Do your kiddos have a handful of things that you’d love to see them master and become more self-sufficient with, but really don’t know when to fit it in or it’s a power struggle to do so on a daily basis? We do. Always. So we picked a day for “Big Kid Boot Camp”. Listen, I talked this one up for a solid week. “I bet you cannot wait to be able to tie those

Kid-Created: Roadway
🚗⚠️🚙🚦🚐 Objects just seem so much more engaging and play-worthy when they are created by the ones playing with them! My boy clan here 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐒 painting. It hasn't always been this way, but as they are getting older, painting and creating seems to be an awesome common theme with my little people. It's sometimes hard for me to sit back and not dictate how I want them to design things. But... with a deep breath and open-mind, I'm learning to let it go and allow them to be t

It's a bittersweet phase when your little people who used to 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐈𝐕𝐄 on sensory play and pretend playing mud-pies get a bit older and are looking for something a little more challenging, yet creative. This is where chalk dust chalk paint comes to fruition! I've said it once and I'll say it again... there's magical about playing with an item you helped create by yourself! For this, all we simply need is a food grater, empty Parmesan cheese shaker (or herb shaker), a paper

Sensory Spaces: Nature Obstacle Climb
Mulch, wood stumps, cement stepping stones, and wood planks. It doesn't need to be complex! The most time consuming part of this project was clearing the patch of ivy that used to be here! We (and by we I mean my husband 🤪) laid down barrier fabric underneath the mulch to prevent weeds peeking through. The obstacle course is a bit challenging for our 2 year old, but our 4, 7 and 9 year old love it. It's short, simple and entertaining!

Is it really this easy to sort by color? Yes! Do you need a fancy learning toy or colorful bins to collect colored items? 𝐍𝐎! Gather what small items you have in solid colors. Gather four pieces of construction paper. If you're kiddo is a bit older, you can write numerals on your pieces of paper and challenge them by sorting by color and placing the correct number of items per construction paper sheet! Super simple ways to disguise learning as play!! ❤️💛💚💙

My kids loves sorting them into the spaces on the tray. This is a cheap and easy activity for color identification and classification! Over the years we have added a 𝐓𝐎𝐍 of loose parts to sort along with pieces of different colors for fun! Some loose parts we have incorporated into our sort are: buttons, clothespins and beads
