Water play for babies is more than just a baby sitting in a baby pool, splashing their hands. Of course, that is water play… But there are many more options for babies to explore the fun feeling and experience that is water.


Some of these water play ideas can look like:

  • Taking a fruit bath (water, food coloring, cut up fruit in big enough non-choke pieces).

  • Painting with water and a paintbrush (big or small, paintbrushes are so much fun to paint on a dry surface with!)

  • Using a drink dispenser to play with pouring water (water, food coloring, cups).

  • Playing in a water trough (link below).

  • Squishing and bursting reusable water balloons (link below).

  • Toddling through a sprinkler.

  • Playing with a small hanging bucket of water (hang on a railing, arm of a chair for a quick water play set up. Link below).
