Loose parts exploring is my ᖴᗩᐯOᖇITᗴ! I'm being honest when I tell you that this type of play kept my kids busy, engaged and entertained for a long time-- much longer than anything with plastic, lights and sounds! It's insane!
With babies, loose part play and exploration can look like:
Playing with pompoms. Picking up, squeezing, throwing, dumping in and out of cups.
Sitting inside a sensory table/bin. Feeling sensory items with bare skin and feet.
Playing with homemade salt dough. Squeezing, squishing feet in it, adding other loose parts to it.
Reaching hands into sensory tables with play animals, ocean gems, rocks or pebbles, or scooping and pouring water, rice, pasta, beans (all under a close eye for choking hazards!)
Exploring different textured household items-- toothbrush, shiny items, kitchen utensils, watches, carpet swatches, etc.
Pulling apart cotton balls. Putting them in containers, throwing, stomping on them.
Like always -- this is the shortest list ever! There are endless options! Embrace your baby's curiosity and energy!
