A new tradition this year! We started a "Thankful Pumpkin" after my sister gave us this awesome idea last year! It's a perfect activity to wrap up fall with and to use up the decorative non-carved pumpkins! It was so enjoyable to sit at the table and have each member of our family go around and name what he or she was thankful for. I did all of the writing, but each member had a different acrylic marker color just for them and I wrote down the "thankfuls" as they said them. It's an obscure thing to have to explain what being "thankful" means to a toddler and preschooler. We used the phrase "something or someone you are glad to have in your life". The older siblings took guesses as to what our 2yo would say if he could understand what was happening! 😂 This was one of our favorites and although it was the first time making a "Thankful Pumpkin", it won't be our last!
