Big Kid Corner: REMOTE CONTROL RAMPS 🛻
Do you have a cornhole set? Do you have a doormat? Do you have a remote control car begging to do some cool stunts? Do you have a bored 8 year old?! This activity is as easy as it sounds and for some reason, so much fun. We like to get creative here… space out the corn hole boards, angle them, etc. My big kids have a fun time seeing if they can get their monster trucks to flip or how much air they can get! Also can break out that sidewalk chalk and draw an RC course with the

Big Kid Corner: SCOOTER CITY
Do you remember the square scooters used in gym class many years ago? The ones that if you didn’t balance just right, you’d topple right off? Yep. Those. They are seriously amazing for balance, core strength and coordination. They also are easy on wood floors! We have 2 scooters and use them both inside and out. Inside we have mixed the rug and set up a little “course” in our living room from time to time. We also have had scooter races. My all time favorite activity is "Scoo

Big Kid Corner: BIG KID BOOT CAMP
This is exactly what it sounds like. Yep. Boot Camp for Big Kids. Do your kiddos have a handful of things that you’d love to see them master and become more self-sufficient with, but really don’t know when to fit it in or it’s a power struggle to do so on a daily basis? We do. Always. So we picked a day for “Big Kid Boot Camp”. Listen, I talked this one up for a solid week. “I bet you cannot wait to be able to tie those shoes by yourself!” And, "Can you imagine how much quick

Big Kid Corner: DOOR DASH
Nope. This isn’t what you think. A bit different than the food delivery service/app. This game is great for kiddos 5 years old and up. All you need is a piece of paper and a pencil. The goal of the game is to guess the correct or closest to correct number of items within a house. For instance, “how many doors are there in the house”? Your big kid(s) will walk around quietly asking the question to each family member and writing down the g uesses. The family member has to name

SENSORY TABLE
Sensory Bins are HUGE in this family. I have such guilt about not doing this more when my oldest was a baby/toddler, but truth be told, he was in daycare for 40+ hours a week! We make up for that time now as he still likes to fiddle around with sensory play items for short periods of time. Let's talk about this table. It is a LEGO table. It was a hand-me-down from many years ago and it has worked out so well for us. The height is perfect for toddler age and then the older ki

Baby Sensory Spot: Play-mat Strings & Contrast Wall
Let’s talk babies. I’m going to be honest here and tell you that a lot of “activities” my babies (birth-12mo) engaged in were observing and copying their older siblings! I definitely tried to plan tummy times, book reading, movement activities, etc. but most of the time just “tagging along” really helped them grow physically and socially. I do have a few pointers that worked really well for us. So, here we have two things: playmat strings and contrast wall. Playmat strings ar

Toddler Time: CARDS, TEES & LIDS
Gather your incomplete old decks of cards, applesauce squeeze pack lids or pompoms, golf tees and a container with a lid! This activity seems super silly and easy and it is. You can fancy up a container with washi tape or keep as is. Make a slit in the lid or bottom (if it’s an oatmeal cardboard bottom) and leave out cards for kiddos to put in the slot. This works well with babies just learning to sit and passing objects from one hand to the other. You can also poke a little

Toddler Time: Window Water Stick
I'll start with an "oldie but goodie"... awesome for babies, toddlers, preschool age. Bin of water, foam letters/numbers, sponges! Endless play of soaking, sticking, peeling off and "washing" the windows. Repeat over and over. Add some soap for bubbles if you wanna make this extra clean!

Hike with Intention!
Hikes. Often we really want to do them as a family, but initially not everyone is on board. So, we set a purpose. When my oldest was 2 or 3 years old, he loved maps. I made him a “map book”. I literally bought blank board books on Amazon and pasted in old maps and random maps from places we had been. I told him to pack his back pack and binoculars and map book and he would lead the way on our hikes. Stopping every so often, he would take out his map book and navigate us in th
